Useful Information
Colour Selection
Focus Glass Designs has a range of 50 standard colours in both plain and metallic finishes. We use a colour matching system especially designed for use on glass. This system gives us the ability to match most paint colours through an online formula service by the paint manufacturer.
Glass is manufactured in two varieties
Standard glass has a green tinge. This is caused by the iron content in the glass, which can affect some colours when matching.
Low iron glass has had most of the iron removed making it a much clearer glass. Remember it is LOW IRON NOT NO IRON. There is no perfectly ********* MISSING WORD ********* glass. When matching a colour this should be kept in mind. If unsure we will spray you a sample of your chosen colour.
When choosing a colour from a paint manufacturer you are looking at printed colour on card. We will be putting that colour behind 6mm of glass that has some colour of its own.
Shapes & Cutouts
Our glass is cutout in-house using a waterjet cutting device. This gives us unparalleled ability to manufacture glass to fit your kitchen. Power-point slots are cut and holes drilled for mounting rangehoods and utensil racks.
Measuring
Prior to our measurer's visit it is necessary to ensure the following:
- All Benchtops, overhead cupboards and any surface to be measured up to, including architraves. Need to be in one place.
- Any overhead cupboard lighting that its position will affect the ability to measure, need to be in one place.
- If glass is to be installed up to the base or the rangehood of the canopy, these need to be in place.
- Should you want glass to be installed behind your canopy, this needs to be installed. Then removed exposing fixing holes and power sites. Then left until the glass is installed. Any utensil rack should be onsite and also a confirmation of the location where you would like them installed.
Preparing your site
Should you be removing tiles or other material from your kitchen wall prior to our installation, the area must be clean and dry, and have no uneven surfaces that will hold the glass off the wall.
Installation
We install your glass unsing double sided tape and silicon. The entire perimeter o the glass is sealed with silicon to ensure no moisture or chemical intrusion. Power-points are unscrewed and slid through the glass then refixed. Our measurer will inform you if there is any special requirements, eg access.
Cleaning
Your glass splashback is easily cleaned. Remove dirt and grease with a hot soapy sponge, then buff with a lint free cloth. Never use abrasives on your glass splashback.
